Warren Holmes |
|
Centre Warren Holmes
spent parts of three
seasons with the LA
Kings in the early 80s.
He was a top point
producer in junior and
the minors but he never
took hold of a long term
NHL job. |
|
Born in Beeton, Ontario
Warren Holmes was chosen
85th overall by the
Kings after playing
three years with the
Ottawa 67's of the OHA.
In 1977 the talented
pivot helped his team
reach the Memorial Cup
final where they
succumbed to the New
Westminster Bruins. The
next year he notched 48
goals as a rookie pro
with the Saginaw Gears
of the IHL. He continued
to play most of his
hockey in the "I" and
helped Saginaw win the
Turner Cup in 1981. |
|
By the 1981-82 season
Holmes was elevated to
the King's AHL
affiliate, the New Haven
Nighthawks. He scored 28
goals, played reasonably
well defensive and was
recalled to the NHL for
three games. The next
year he split his time
between New Haven and
the NHL but the Kings
disappointed by missing
the playoffs. Holmes
only played three games
for LA the next season
but potted 26 goals in
the AHL. He then
returned to the IHL for
two years before
retiring in 1986. |
