Coach's apply by filling out a
application form and they select
which team they are applying
for. An interview is set up and
you will appear before a panel
of 5 volunteer people (Coaching
Committee) plus our Prevention
Services Rep. The interview is
about 20-30 minutes. You will be notifed by the committee's
chairperson whether you have or
have not been chosen for the
position. Usually the Rep
Coaches are selected first as
they handle the Pre Conditioning
and try outs in August which is
usually done in Tottenham. Thus
the players usually get 1
conditioning skate plus 1,2 or 3
practices before the Head Coach
does any roster selections
(There is no invitation only for
these Rep. teams as rumours have
it). The Rep teams roster (how
many) is predetermined by how
many register so the BAA decides
on how many players per team.
Usually the Local League coaches
aren't decided until a player
has made or not made the Rep
team as usually its a volunteer
parent who takes a team. It
makes it a bit hectic for the
BAA but usually we find enough
coaches each year. Any new coach
or trainer has to go to a
clinic. Any new coaching staff
also has to take a Prevention
Services (Speak Out) course or
they can't be on the bench. Good
luck!
