Beeton Novice Rep Team Wins Regional Silver Stick held in Wasaga Beach.

Congratulations to Beeton's Novice Rep Team as they won the Regional Silver Stick Tournament held in Wasaga Beach on the weekend of December 3rd & 4th.  The team is now off to the North American Silver Stick Championship (www.silverstick.org) on January 27th to 29th, in St Clair Shores, Michigan.

The Wasaga Beach Regional Silver Stick tournament saw teams from Beeton, Creemore, Mariposa, Newcastle, Shelbourne and Wasaga Beach.

During the weekend round robin games the Beeton team played 3 games and accumulated a total of 12.5 points from a possible 15 points, qualifying the team for the Championship game.  The Championship game was held at 3:00pm on Sunday December 4th against the home team Wasaga Beach.

The Beeton team's captain Mitchell Robinson opened the scoring in the first period with an unassisted goal; Wasaga Beach tied the game up 4 and a half minutes later.  Mitchell Robinson scored again late in the first period with an assist from Tye Tesi.  Beeton dominated the second period with 4 unanswered goals: Mitchell Robinson, Matthew Nicholas, Ryan Franks and Nicholas Polsinelli with assists from Matthew Nicholas, Nicholas Polsinelli and Colton Burgess.  Beeton continued to pour on the pressure during the third period and scored their last goal from Matthew Nicholas off of a pass from Nicholas Polsinelli.  Wasaga Beach did not give up, scoring 2 more goals in the last few minutes of the third period, to end the game with a score of Beeton 7 and Wasaga Beach 3.  The Beeton goalie, John Mika played amazing all weekend, adding 1 more shutout to his record.

Beeton has sent a team to the North American Silver Stick for the past 3 years. In 2002 the Atom team finished as Finalists. In 2003 the Atom team made it back but this time did not make it to the finals. Last year in 2004 the Peewee Stingers won the International Silver Stick and brought home Beeton's first ever International Silver Stick. Good luck Beeton Novice Rep Stingers in the 2005/2006 North American Silver Stick Championships
